Connecting Devices to the Chromeleon Server PC

Chromeleon allows you to control different devices, using different interfaces (including USB, TCP/IP, DX-LAN (10BASE-T and BNC), and RS-232). An appropriate interface must be available on the instrument. A suitable cable is used to connect the instrument to the Server PC.

 Note:

Some Dionex devices, for example, the AS40 autosampler, are controlled via relays and TTL. For information about how to control these devices, refer to the corresponding Operating Instructions.

Standard interface cables can be used to connect many of the devices. However, often third-party device manufacturers use proprietary cables, which have different pin assignments than the standard cables (see  Cables and Pin Assignments in the Appendix of the Hardware Installation section).

Installation of these instruments may require that you upgrade the server PC by installing additional PC plug-in cards; for example, when the number of serial PC ports is not sufficient.
